We love to see a Breakthrough Artist continue breaking through. Baby Rose’s BADBADNOTGOOD produced EP Slow Burn earned more KCRW spins last week than all the rest, but SoCal soul-jazz crew Brainstory are hot on her heels with their freshly released LP Sounds Good. Same goes for Jamie xx and “Baddy On The Floor,” his absolute banger of a collab with house music hero Honey Dijon. This is the second single xx has released so far in 2024 ahead of a yet-to-be-officially-announced sophomore LP due later this year.

New and notable: Brooklyn-based, post-punk-dance band Psymon Spine dropped their third LP Head Body Connector in February. Plays have been steady ever since, but finally the stars aligned to make it chart.
